Setbacks – Hurricane Irma & Maria
Setbacks – Hurricane Irma & Maria
Despite the significant progress, 2017’s catastrophic storms, Irma and Maria, cast a shadow over the program. The aftermath left athletes struggling with personal losses, damaged homes, and disrupted training facilities.  During this difficult time, MIB held hurricane relief events to provide assistance to families in the USVI and BVI that became displaced after the storms.

MIB’s Persistence & Comeback
MIB’s Persistence & Comeback
Post-hurricanes, MIB’s resilience excelled through the Summer of 2018 with a transformative month-long trip to the mainland. Thirty athletes embarked on a journey that included training, visits to preparatory schools and colleges, and participation in exposure events across Florida, Texas, and Las Vegas. This trip provided much-needed relief from the challenges of hurricane recovery efforts and culminated in remarkable achievements: becoming the YBOA 2018 National Champions and the 2018 USSSA National Champions. Amidst traveling, MIB also collaborated with various organizations to bring tournaments, clinics, and combines to the Virgin Islands, displaying MIB’s commitment to nurturing talent, providing opportunities, and promoting basketball enrichment within the community.
